N-[1-(2,6-dimethoxybenzyl)piperidin-4-yl]-4-sulfanylbutanamide is an experimental small molecule compound belonging to the class of n-benzylpiperidines. It has not been approved for any therapeutic use and is not currently in clinical development beyond preclinical or early research stages. The compound has been studied as a potential inhibitor of beta-site APP-cleaving enzyme 1 (BACE1), an aspartic protease involved in the production of beta-amyloid peptides implicated in Alzheimer's disease pathology. By inhibiting BACE1, this molecule may reduce amyloid-beta formation and could have potential applications in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease[6][2]. However, there are no reported clinical trials or approved indications for this drug.
